360 w/ hdmi to lcd to pc speakers 5.1?

Hello all! I have a question about hookinh up my xbox 360 to an lcd monitor ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 92#reviews ) and have those linked with an hdmi cable. I use the same monitor (obviously) for my pc which has ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 2836586066 ) for speakers and I've had them for years and love them.

From what I have read I can use the VGA slot from the 360 and use a splitter ( http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Monste [...] .qGrJ77yQF ) and instead of hooking it up anywhere I merely hook the audio cable to my sound card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -_-Product ) which is either that one or very similar.

Is this correct? Is there another way to do this? Is there an easier way to do this? Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated!
