I have a Toshiba Satelite 1000 laptop, 2002. I had to have my hard drive cleaned because I had a virus. When I went to load the recover cd it says "Wrong Machine". I remember now that I had to have my hard drive replaced a few years ago, under warranty. They replaced it with a bigger hard drive. They did not provide me with a recovery CD for the new hard drive. Is there a solution for me? I have removed the hard drive from my laptop and read the info on it: Toshiba
MK3021GAS HDD2181 B ZE01 S
Does that make any sense to anyone?
Thank you, marilynandersonw@aol.com
Personaly, if you have backups of the data, I'd just install from a standard windows install disk and use the licence details stuck on the side of your laptop.
You may be hard pushed to get the recovery CD to work as they are designed to only work on the machine type issued to.
