Thinking about buying this, it takes up one less PCI slot on my motherboard in case I go SCSI later on along with my RAID 0 array. Anyone have this ethernet adapter and can dissuade me from a bad purchase if its not worth my time. I'm in college, and mostly will just use it for LAN parties, my internet is limited to 56k but I will maybe be able to afford DSL next semester. So... please let me know as soon as possible. Will probably order it later today or Tuesday.

I use this before and it works great. I give it to my cousin since her computer does not have enough PCI slot. She used for school internet connection and did not have any problem with it too.

For performance it is only a 10 Mbps adapter(USB only support 12M bps) so it is not as fast as 100 Mbps PCI card.

What about with USB 2.0? Supports a much faster transfer rate. Or is the NIC itself limited to 10mb/s?

This NIC is limited to 10 Mbps. For now most of the USB NIC are designed for USB not for USB 2.0. This should change soon.
