The motherboard manual would be a good place to start.

You might want to download and run Everest Home Edition. It's a
freeware application that provides a wealth of information
about your system.

I'd go to your mainboard's manual, or the maker's web site.

If you don't know what the mainboard model is, there are a number of free
utilities that can give information. Examples are Everest Home Edition
(www.lavalys.com) or SANDRA (www.sisoftware.net/). I wouldn't count on
either being 100% correct in all information, but basic stuff like the CPU
socket type, mainboard chipset, etc. ought to be accurate.

You'll probably get the processor speed whether you want it or not.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

thanks!

You might try the BIOS. Since it sounds like you have a ready made machine
you can always call their tech support and ask them what it is.

One of the best free downloads I have made in a long time that will give you
information about your entire PC that you never knew about before !!
Try going to : http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en

Once you have downloaded it (click on "Click Here to Download Free Edition"
and installed it cursor down to the "Mother Board" listing, then "CPU", then
"Package Type". This will advise you exactly what type of socket you have,
how many pins etc.

Hope this helps....
Cheers
Redwagon.
