I'd go to your mainboard's manual, or the maker's web site.
If you don't know what the mainboard model is, there are a number of free
utilities that can give information. Examples are Everest Home Edition
(www.lavalys.com) or SANDRA (www.sisoftware.net/). I wouldn't count on
either being 100% correct in all information, but basic stuff like the CPU
socket type, mainboard chipset, etc. ought to be accurate.
You'll probably get the processor speed whether you want it or not.
