I have an old Compaq Deskpro and wish to boot from the CD. But when I go into the Compaq diagnostics to change boot options (F8) and select 'computer setup' it started to load, but it continued to load for 8 hours and never worked.

I have Windows 2000. Is there any way I can boot from the cd via windows?
Or can I somehow get to computer setup another way?

Need more information about your pc to help you. what is the model etc.
pressing f8 at start up is generally used to go into safe mode. you will need to get into the bios set up screen to change the boot options, every manufacture does this a little different. the del button or f2 or f10 are common ones.

Thanks but I already figured out the problem. I had to install Compaq BIOS Setup. Now my computer has Windows XP on it and is running well.
But thanks once again for the info.
