Problem with dell pc

I have a dell that ive owned for like three years. all of a sudden i log in and it asks me to validate it doesnt ask for numbers or anything so i click ok then something happens and the pc shuts off. everytime i turn it on it does this over and over

Try starting in Safe Mode (press F8 as Windows starts).

MY dell optiplex 745 had this happen,and i had to reformat and reinstall,now it runs perfectly!

The Optiplex line has too many issues, and reformatting and re-installing the OS is only a temporary solution. Dell tech support is pathetic!
