CD-rom problem

So I've got this semi-old computer with a CD-burner installed into one of they bays. One day the CD tray popped open and it will not close, even if I turn off the computer. The LED on the front is on and green when the computer is on, but the tray will not go in. The CD drive has disappeared from My Computer window and I cannot find the drive anywhere else. Anyone have any ideas on what my problem could be?

On one of my old comps...a generic dvd rom came with it, and one day it also disappeared from the hardware list.....and my computer, and what not....The color on the drive was red though...this usually means its done. It usually means it's toast.
