Hello,
My daughter just moved into college and we were told that any TV older than 2006 would require a QAM (sp?) converter box in order to work with the "free" basic cable supplied in the dorms. The college handed out fliers that you could order this box from but they were $119.00 which seemed steep to me. Isn't there a cheaper "converter box" that we could buy else where ? I tried Radio Shack and they had no idea what I was talking about but they did offer to sell me a digital converter box that did not work (I tried and had to return it).

Thanks,
Dan

QAM is a cable converter, look for an old comcast box - people are throwing them out right now as comcast has gone digital. Most new TV's will have cable/air as a selection in set up if yours does set to cable and see what happens.
