Hello, I am looking to buy a new receiver for my computer. I currently have an ancient pioneer SX-980 from the 70's and it is honestly pretty nice as far as I know. I would like to get a 5.1 surround sound receiver. I have no idea what to look for or what means what. I have 150-200 dollars to spend, anyone have any recommendations?

It's incredible how japanese electronics from the 1970s just goes on working -- and often sounds nice too. I put it down to discrete components and tough case construction.

Don't expect that kind of service from modern electronics.
