Best way to condense a movie file to fit on a dvd

i have two 2hr movies im trying to put on a 2hr dvd. the files are now in mpeg what do i change the file conversion to.

If you can find a copy of dvd shrink you should be able to make it fit on a standard dvd. I'm not sure if it works with raw mpeg file though.
