I didnt really know where else to put this question so i just put it here. My computer recently had an issue where it locked up and crashed. Now, i have my OS and major applications on my 228gb SSD with two 1tb hard drives in raid1 for all other data. When rebooting it ran a system recover (which, since i had turned off system recovery as a tweak for using an SSD boot drive, i was a bit sceptical on). When i got back in, everything had been reset. My programs and everything was still there, however it had created a new "User" folder since my user folders were all on the raid 1 volume, so my desktop and all settings were set back to factory default.
Now i think the biggest issue that can resolve this is the fact that the raid 1 volume was broken up. In my computer it identifies each of the HDs as separate 1tb HDs rather than a single Raid 1 volume like i had it as. How do i merge those two hard drives as a Raid 1 setup without formatting them? And also i can't remember how i linked the computer to reference the user folder on the raid HDs as opposed to the user folder on the SSD (read a tutorial on how to do it but can't remember off hand. if i can't be helped on this issue ill figure it out eventually).
The second part of my issue, and this is incredibly annoying, is whenever i reboot or log off / back on to my profile, everything resets. I can change whatever i want. Create new shortcuts on the desktop, move the taskbar, etc. But when i log off and back on or reboot it all goes back to default as if it was the first time ever logging on. This is extremely frustrating and i really hope someone has an idea on how to go about restoring my old settings or knows someone i could speak with to do so. Thanks in advance
