I have an 1 1/2 year old Vaio VGN-FZ145E notebook; the screen blackout frequently during the boot lately. It will take 5 or more times rebooting to light up the screen normally.

inverter is going bad. inverter is a peace of hardware located just under the screen. it provides control to your backlight bulb. replace that and your problems will be solved. !!! sony inverters are hard to find, expensive too and it must the same as yours 100% match, same make and model, same month manufacturer
otherwise wont work. check ebay.
