Hey, here is a question for you. A friend of mine has a set of fisher speakers, stv-9225...he is trying to get me to buy them for a $100 for the set... is this guy dreaming? or are they really worth that amount?

If these were built in the last 25 years, in that time the once respected Fisher name has been merely a brand name of Sanyo -- and speakers from Japanese brands (with the exception of some of the Yamaha range) are not very good. So $100 seems excessive.

Instead look for American or European brands -- Acoustic Research, KEF, B&W -- and maybe spend a little more.
