I was wondering if there was a way to do something about the responce time
with windows XP, or a way to fix this.

I organize my computer a lot and I have this problem where on my old windows
98 machine when I found a file i didnt want i would click on it then hit
delete enter really fast so that it would close the conformation dialog. But
the problem is on Windows XP if I hit Delete Enter fast it opens the dam
file before it deletes it... It really bugs me and working with Photoshop PSD
files it takes a long time to load photoshop up when it opens a file...

Is there a way to change this, or make it so Enter wont open a file at all?

Thanks,
Wolfy

Maybe your getting old :)
This works fine for me as fast as i can do it.. Are you sure you're pressing
delete first?
You can't do it so both keys are depressed at the same time.. But if you hit
delete (let go) and then Enter it deletes the file, i can do this very fast
without a problem

Ok on second thoughts maybe the first file i do this with it sometimes opens
it :) but after that it deletes all other files fine.

Very odd,

I just tryed it and it still opens the file. I have a P4 3.4 ghz so I dont
see why the delete dialog dosent come up faster, it takes like 2 - 3 seconds
and by that time ive already hit enter and it opens the file. Is there a way
i can change open file to like Keypad enter instead of regular enter?

seems kinda crazy to me but if ya wanna risk it :)

couldn't find anything else helpful, I'll keep looking though.

slow ourself down and enjoy the "experience".

the problem seems to be that xp has to think about the delete process,
so when you hit return and the delete window isn't active it starts a
new process - open.

I have just decided I need to slow down.

Do you really need the delete confirmation? This can be turned off by right
clicking the recycle bin icon on the desktop. Click on properties and
unchecking the delete confirmation dialog.

Every time you delete the file it will go directly to the recycle bin with
no confirmation.

Thanks for all the replys guys,

I found out that what was happining was that I was still holding delete when
I hit enter which was causeing it to open the file... I may just turn off the
conformation anyway because if I accidently delete something I want to keep
itll still be within the recycle bin and I can restore it.

Thanks again,
Wolfy
