...then there was a loud pop and it stopped working. I think I smelled smoke too. The led didn't light and when I unplugged it, it continued to click for some time. Would this be a problem that is easy/cheap to fix or would you recommend that I just buy a new monitor? It's a 2-year old monitor, though It's had heavy use since the day I got it.
If you smelled smoke then it is pretty much fried and would be wise to cut your losses and get a new monitor. You should see if your monitor is still under warranty. Good luck!
