when i put in a disc not able to read but manager says working

try removing cd rom start windows up after its fully on turn it off put cd rom back then try and see if it works if not if you can try another cd rom sound like its given up and you want a new one

^ By CD-ROM, I think bry means the drive itself - not your disc. This is called reseating, and fixes most problems like yours.
