BIOS

I was speaking with a technician over the phone about problem I was having
with external drive. Among other things, he had me go to BIOS and then to
ADVANCED and UNcheck "Legacy USB Supprt" and then go to BOOT and I had: 1- CD
Rom; 2- Removable Drive; 3- Hard Drive and 4- Boot. He had me change #2 to
Hard Drive and change #3 to Removable Drive.
When we were finished with our telephone call, I asked him if I had to
change ADVANCED back AND check "Legacy USB Supprt" and to change BOOT back to
the way it was with #2- Removable Drive and #3- Hard Drive.
He said it wasn't necessary. Was he correct? Or should I change them back to
the way they were?
Thanks for any help.
Alice

You don't really need to change them back. Legacy USB support is for
keyboard/mouse mainly in dos..
telling your computer to boot from the hard disk before a removable drive is
probably better. So i think you're all good...

Thank you.
We are using a (Gateway) notebook (WinXPsp2) with an external USB Gateway
keyboard with a USB mouse plugged into the back of the the keyboard's USB
port. It seems to be working as usual. I was just wondering if it would be
afected since you mention "Legacy USB support is for keyboard/mouse mainly in
DOS..."
Should I be concerned?
Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.
No you shouldn't be concerned, legacy support is disabled by default on all
new systems and i've never needed to enable it so far.
