hi all,
new to this ng so sorry if i'm in the wrong one/s?
had to go to usa/canada for 3 months to sort out 'stuff' about my moms
passing away last yr. lucky i had good friends to stay with in various
places.

i come home and there is no sound on my computer.
the voice works thru yahoo msg'r but only me to them, nothing from them is
getting to me, or i cant hear it. cant even hear the windows xp start up
sounds.
yes i checked all the obvious things, mute box not ticked anywhere, all
volume is up, what else? uhhhhh, who knows been searching everywhere on here
and to no avail, i still cant hear a bloody thing.

now about 3 days ago the D drive icon doesnt show on the 'my computer'
screen.
i also found i dont have the windows default thing for changing background
on desktop, screensaver, etc.
i am not amused.
anyone got any ideas?

jeanne

Unfortunately, this isn't enough information for us to help you. The
cause could be software - viruses and malware - or hardware failure.
There isn't any way of knowing where to start focused troubleshooting
from your post. You are posting in the correct newsgroup, but need to
post back to this thread with pertinent details about your computer.

How to ask a good newsgroup question:
