I have a mackie MDR and I've bought a battery I even replaced the hard drive and it keeps saying
error 43 what is the problem and how can I get this thing up and working

Did you ever find a solution to this? My 10-year-old MDR has just given me the Error 43. I've changed the battery and tried updating the BIOS, but it won't respond to the floppy disk. Haven't tried replacing the hard drive yet...
