Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right section to be posting this in or not. But, I recently subscribed to cable internet, but cannot connect. My ethernet adapter seems to be non-existent now for some reason. The tech guy from the cable company that hooked it up never bothered to see if it worked, just connected and left. I have tried installing the original nvidia lan drivers from HP's website, but still didnt work. When the cable is plugged into the port it lights up and appears to be active. But in the device manager there is nothing at all for networking. Any ideas on what I can do to get the adapter working?

Check your bios settings, the onboard network chip (onboard LAN) might be deactivated there.
If it is a pci add-on card, try another pci-slot. In either case, it should come up on windows startup as "new device found".
