I have been in the realm of a 20 and 24 inch traditional computer monitor since about 2003. (and prior)
I now face a new location with a desk that will not support the large footprint of a traditional monitor and a keyboard.
I have never looked seriously at a flat panel until I got this news today. I understand that I have a lot to learn. Clueless would be an upgrade for me.
I am trying to compare these two as examples. I have just about decided that I am comparing French and German because some of the specs appear not to be the same reference points.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions in this price range. I can go a tad higher if I can understand why I should.
All my systems are either XP Home or XP Pro. I have looked at Vista and do not see a valid reason to mess with it.
My current video cards are ATIs manufactured about 2003-2004. A couple of them have DVI conections. I'd like to try to put them to use. The others have Svideo connections or composite TV video connections (3 plugs) as well as the standard 15 pin Vega connections.
My current PC uses are:
Internet browsing including watching TV episodes and movies over the net.
DVD player.
I am rebuilding a unit with much larger hard drives with the intent to turn it into a TIVO type unit.
Office 97 (Excel and Word) The vast majority of my uses are fairly basic by most folks standard.
Games that are not video intensive. (card games and the like)
I'm looking at two candidates:
22" ViewSonic VX2233wm LCD Monitor
Model: VX2233wm 1920 x 1080 WUXGA 1000:1 (typ.) contrast ratio 5ms response time
Viewsonic 2233 specs
22" Viewsonic VX2262WM Widescreen LCD Monitor
Model: VX2262WM 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio 1680 x 1050 Super HD
Newegg has some AOS brand units that have caught my eye. I have never heard of that brand.
Samsung seem popular, but I have no idea of comparable models.
Thanks in advance for all guidance and patience.
