Hi, recently my monitor went and died on me, so I need a replacement.

I was using an LG Flatron L1952TX-BF before. It wasn't bad, but I do have complaints about things getting a little hard to see in games, especially in dark areas.

My budget is $300 (Canadian, so a bit under $300).

This monitor will be used for a bit of everything. I watch movies, watch videos online, browse the web a lot, I use photoshop, I do animation, and I play games.

Right now I'm not doing the graphics and animation as intensively as the programs are capable of, but I do plan to pursue those areas in school, so a quality monitor is a concern for me.

When I saw the Samsung T220, it looked perfect for me. I couldn't find anything to complain about in the specs, and couldn't seem to ask for better in my price range. Just to top it off, it matches my computer table, and has plenty of "cool" factor with its touch-sensitive power button (mind you I'm sure I'll be tempted to play with it, which probably wont be good for monitor).

Looking beyond the online reviews and reviews newegg, I started finding a lot of complaints about inconsistencies in the colour. Lots of people seem to be complaining that the top of the screen is a few shades lighter/darker than the bottom, and that it's noticeable with things like web browsing, graphics design, etc.

This would be a problem in my opinion.

So what's your opinions for monitors in this price range?

I'm looking for something no smaller than 19 inch, preferably 22 inch. A bit of white glow on the top and bottom against a perfectly black screen wouldn't bother me too much, as long as I would be able to still see any dark objects moving against it. The colours must be consistent throughout the screen, and a sharper image would be appreciated (I have one kinda bad eye so my focus isn't 100%). Basically, I guess I'm looking for the best overall performance with as few sacrifices possible (heh, who isn't?), but extra features, wall mounting, TV-tuners, I'm not interested in, I just don't want to complain about what I'm seeing (or not seeing) on the screen.

Thanks for your input!
