Hi, this is my first thread so please bear with me...

The problem started when I installed and tried to run Battlefield 2, got blue screen and p.c restarted. I found that in control panel under 'sounds and audio devices' , 'audio' my default sound playback was 'hd audio rear output 2' which I guess is the built in sound card? Anyway I changed it to 'ati hd audio rear output' which fixed the blue screen problem but now I have no sound at all.

I've downloaded the latest ati catalyst control center and I have all the latest drivers and I've followed the troubleshooting options but no luck. Any ideas on what to try next would be great.
I'm using xp sp3.

The ATI driver is for the latest (3000 and up) series of ATI cards, which is only for carrying audio over the cards HDMI connection. If you are not using this connection, you will not get any sound, period.

Thanks mate, I thought that may have been the case but wasn't sure. So I guess the real question is why wont BF2 run with my mobo sound card... I'll post that one in a gaming forum :)
