I'm looking into buying a new laptop to be my main PC. I was thinking about buying a Mac until the Core i7 laptops hit the market. I read somewhere then the 1Q of 2010 they are coming out with new Core i7 chips would I be better to wait till then or would buying now be sufficient?

What are you going to use it for? Honestly, a quad-core in a notebook is really not a good idea unless you mean it when you say "desktop replacement". You won't be going anywhere long with it.
