I'm looking for a new HDD for storage. I do realize that any HDD from any company has a chance of failure. What I want to know is which company has the lowest failure rate. The usual suspects are available in my area, seagate, western digital, and maxtor. Advice?

I dont' know if any of them publish failure rates, so we're stuck with circumstantial evidence and inferences to make that decision.

Seagate has a 5 yr. warrantee. Most others are 3 or less.

I personally like Seagate, but I'll buy a WD if the price is right.

Mike.
