I am looking to purchase a SAMSUNG SyncMaster 305T Black 30" 6ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor. I would like to know if my video card (8800 gts 512mb) would be able to handle 2560 x 1600 resolution.
Handle? Yes. Play well? Not especially. If you're going to drop that kind of cash on a monitor, and you want to game, get at least a 4870 1GB, absolute minimum.

A single 8800GTS will have an easier time with 1920 x 1200 than 2560 x 1600 since it only needs to push half the number of pixels.
I am still playing games on my 26" LCD monitor with a 1900XT @ 1920 x 1200 and I still find performance to be acceptable. However, your idea of acceptable performance may be more demanding than mine. The 8800GTS 512MB is more powerful than my card though; rough guess is probably 25% - 30% better performance if not more.
