Need MVP help! Anyone, please!

This is my third try for help in this newsgroup and I can't figure out
why there's been no response.

If I should be searching or posting somewhere else, would you kindly
point me in the right direction. I'd be grateful.

Or if you can help with a suggestion, better yet.



Until a few weeks ago, my Windows XP search function worked just fine.
The little dog did his job for several years. Then, I noticed that
every time I entered a file name or search name in the box, the result
came up instantly: "Searched, nothing found."


Actually, there was no time to conduct a search, the result showed up
within a half second.


Meanwhile, I've tested by entering names of files that appear multiple
times and I still get the same result instantly, "nothing found."


What can I do to correct or repair?

Putting "Need MVP help" in your title will also put alot of people off from
responding.

That said....

When you bring up the search > All files and folders, check the "look in"
box is directed towards a top level directory eg c:

Also check under "More advanced options" that the "Search subfolders" option
is checked

Haha... Kurt has a good point... er I mean is a jerk, don't listen to him.
The Yahoo desktop search also works very well. I also use either Google or
Yahoo desktop search utilities rather than the Microsoft search. They are
much faster and more effective IMO. Not that this fixes your problem
