I received the Forgeworld 2005 catalogue earlier this week, and I notice
there has been quite a few price rises on a number of items. Several things
seem to have gone up by either 50p, £2 or £5, and a few items a bit more
than that. Note the fact this doesn't seem to have taken effect on the
online store yet.

Some of the most notable:

- Icon packs for marines and other imperials have gone up from £3.50 to £4.

- All of the MK 4 Dreadnaughts, Chaos and Imperial, have gone up from £20 to
£22 (apart from the standard marine mk 4, which is up from £18 to £20).

- Most of the marine tanks and extra bits have gone up by £2, including the
rhino extra armour.

- The Shadowsword is up from £125 to £140, and the version with interior
detail is up from £150 to £155. The Mars Baneblade is up to £140 as well.

- All of the alternate Leman Russ turrets and some of the other Imperial
russ/chimera based vehicles have gone up by £2.

- The Lightning, Lightning Strike, Valkyrie and Vulture have all gone up by
£5, and the Marauder have gone up by £15.

- BFG escort-sized ship packs have gone up from £9 to £10, and the Ramilies
is up from £28 to £35.

- The Epic Cathedral is £15 more, and the other buildings are slightly more
expensive, a couple of the Tau vehicles have gone up, and the Lightning
fighters are now 2 per pack for £10 (they used to be 3 per pack for £10).

Oh damn, are you serious? Guess they must be selling enough (Rob...) or
GW really needs the money. How much is the Nurgle dread with both arms?
Cuz I wanted to star Death Guard, and it might be worth it to grab it
now, even if I don't do the army right away.

Rumor has it the cost of resin has skyrocketed in the last year.
Probably linked to the cost of crude oil which IIRC has nearly doubled
in the last 3 years.

If resin prices have gone up the 50% I heard then a 10-15% increase
in final cost is reasonable, then again I do not know their price hike
history

I'm not sure what the economics of running Forgeworld are, but I always
assumed that the extra expense over main GW products was a result of
having to make back similar fixed costs over a much smaller volume of
sales, and the lack of the economies of scale GW gets for things like
regiment boxes. I suspect that the price rises all over GW are more to
do with the increased costs of business (salaries, utilities, rent on
the shops, etc) than fluctuatons in raw materials prices.

(Or you could just presume that they think they make more money this way).
