I am having an absolute nightmare with this so would appreciate any help at all....

I've currently got Windows 7 Pro 32-bit which I got through the student deal which, I think, means that the key will not work with a 64-bit version.

All I want to do is figure out how what will work to upgrade to 64-bit... I know I need to do a clean install but I would do that anyway as I don't really trust these upgrade tools. I'm not bothered whether or not I get Home Premium or Pro but, obviously, would prefer to stick with Pro.

Can I buy a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro upgrade version? Will that allow me to do a custom install and recognise my 32-bit product key?? Can't find much help on this at all but surely I can't be expected to have to buy a full 64-bit OS??

Anyone have some experience with this?

You get a hold of a 64 bit Pro

You use the same key as the 32 bit version you have now
