Your fan RPM is a function of your CPU utilization and temperature. If it's cool and not used enough, your notebook will save power by turning off your fan.

Of course, it shouldn't run that way permanently. If your fan is always off, you have a problem.

This is james the one you just 'ansered my Q'' ok the Q' now is ''that is it my fan' or is it that my settings are not right'' i tryed to go in and change the settings '' but it has not yet got hot enuff i gess to run the fan yet'' ''but i am runing windows 98 se' and i dont and can not get any more update's they just dont make them any more''as soon as i get a bigger hard drive' i will put windows XP on it ''so can the drive's make a prodlum with the fan not working ''? P.S' this is the first site i have found that even helped me on my prodlum'' so thank you and any one els that helps me ''james'.
