Any thoughts on the ASUS G Series G51J-A1 from actual owners?

I'm thinking of buying it from GenTech PC store because I can customize it.
So far this is in the winning for my next laptop purchase. I was looking at the sony CW series, then I moved to the HP Dvt quad series, then I found this asus laptop. I may still look at the dell alienware. The dell xps is out - those are just stupid expensive.
I'm basically looking for a faster laptop that can play games like the witcher, AION, or WoW while watching TV in the dark so a lit keyboard is definitely a plus. 1500 is my max limit.
My questions are:
- Heat, do you need a laptop cooler or can you put it on your lap. (i'm guessing not)
- How's the display?
- Does it put the 2 hard drives in striping raid or is it just jbod?
- the recovery dvd you get is that a windows install where you can set up partitions and install windows fresh or is it like Sony or HP where it restores the laptop to a factory install (with all the crap along with it)?
- Is the keyboard solid?
- Is the laptop itself solid? does it feel flimsy, plastic - or firm and metal like?
I seriously want to just buy the thing but I have to wait anyway.
