I've had my Samsung SyncMAster 2493HM Monitor for about a year. Recently it has lost a lot of brightness. It isn't nearly as bright as it used to be. Has anyone had this happen to them and what can I do about it? I'm still under warranty with samsung. Has anyone had any experiences with sending in a Samsung Monitor? How long does it usually take to get it back ect ect ? Am I even covered for dimness since the warranty says Parts Limited and Labor Limited?
I admit, I use my monitor a lot which could be the cause. Since i've had it, it is on 24/7 basically. I use it for my computer and for direct tv via the hdmi plug and I like to sleep with the tv on so it stays on all night and is on most of the day. Could this be why in only a year the brightness has dimmed considerable?
I think backlights are rated at about 50,000 hours or almost 6 years of continual usage.
Since it is still under warranty then get an RMA, the backlight should be covered under warranty.
Turnaround time? You need to call Samsung, maybe they will do a cross-ship. You send yours back, they ship you a replacement. You play for shipping both ways and they keep your credit card info on file. If they do not receive the monitor you shipped within a reasonable amount of time, then they will charge you for the replacement.
