How to make Archive copy of Halo

Hi to all,
I purchased Halo for PC, had a blast playing it, but am getting worried
about damage (scratches) on the CD.
I attempted burning a copy, as I do with ALL my purchased software, to have
a working copy while preserving the original disk.
I tried Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, Nero Rom Burning, but both render many
read errors & eventually fail, or just seconds after starting the copy
process it reports being finished (successfully, but nothing was copied).
I am guessing encryption is causing the copy process to fail?
Any suggestions appreciated.
