Well, I was trying to watch a movie on my new Samsung t240hd monitor, using my iPod and the Apple Composite A/V cable. The t240hd doesn't have composite inputs, so I used the component input, plugging the yellow video cable into the green (Y) component port. However, I get only a black and white picture.

I read that this works, and I've done it on another HDTV, albeit not with my iPod. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Composite (yellow) cable will not give you proper video playback on a component video hook-up. Component separates the colors (red, blue, green) to give progressive quality video.

I'd be very surprised if you were able to get composite to work properly in a component connection on the other HDTV that you mentioned. Hope this helps!
