Hd is PATA? Is it the one in your sig?
What brand is the HD.

Make sure you have the Slave/Master in order! Theres always the CableSelect position on some drive that can be usefull.

Anyhow sounds like a master/slave issue to me

most WD drives use no jumper for single drive system , when installing XP you have to hit f6 when prompted at bottom of screen to install SATA driver , the driver should be on the motherboard Disc ,you can also copy driver to floppy

That card probably has Native Sata (not quite sure) if so you dont usually need drivers!
