Hi guys,

I've been trying to pick the best laptop for gaming and looks. I am fixated on the alienware m15x with the intel i7 820QM processor as well as the dell studio xps 16 with the same processor. I am leaning towards the dell xps 16 because it looks much better and is cheaper in general. The only difference is the build quality and the graphics cards. The dell xps 16 has an ATI mobility 4670 1gb and the alienware m15x has an Nvidia GTX 260 M.

The purposes of this laptop is for gaming. I am not looking for a new desktop. Will the 4670 drastically fall in performance compared to the GTX 260 M ?

Thanks,

Brendan

It will depend on the games you play. If you are into Crysis on high, it is the Alienware but if it is on medium you should definitely go for the Dell. The ATI is awesome..

That is my noob advice.

The GTX260 is a good deal better than the HD 4670. You are comparing a performance level card to a mid range card.

There is another option, the Asus G51J: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6834220605

similar to the Alienware, but cheaper.

Wow great chart mate, the GTX 260 M definately looks like the stronger performer. For the GTX 260M and CSS, although not demanding, gets an advantage of 140 fps more than the mobility 4670. 270 fps @ high

lol, it won't even matter at those rates. At 270 fps, it's just bragging rights at that point :D
