presario 1694 running xp pro

recently installed xp pro on a much larger than stock harddrive xp pro sp2 things seem fine ecxept when i go to use my usb for any thinf says unknown device need to download drivers for it compaq has nothin for it it wont read any thing not even a jump stick currently install a net gaer router 111.2 need to go wireless so i can use laptop in my shop even a usb cable directly to router same unknown device controller in device manager says its ok an thr root hub controller is ok has a unkown device in list aan when ya go to driver it just saysunsuported device unsure but without usb i cant use laptop please help thanx fred

Reinstall SP2 just over the already installed SP2, then the rest of the updates offered at ms for xp.
