So far on my desk I have a mac mini, gaming rig & laptop, not to mention there's always the possibility of dropping a console down to. What would be the best method of feeding that lot is feeding into a 2.1 speaker system? Cable swapping isn't really an option as I'm sharing a single display between machine I tend to use audio bells a lot, so what do other people do?

Personally I was thinkin' about a Behringe UB1002 yeah it's overkill but hey that thing costs 35£ & adds an adjustable headphone socket into the equation.

if you use everything from one keyboard, mouse, monitor then you must have a kvm switch. why not get a kvm w/ audio switching as well?

Well actually no I don't use a KVM, the laptop & apple share a bluetooth keyboard + mouse & the PC uses a wired keyboard + mouse, video changing is handled via the display
