I picked up a cheap EMC2 / DELL API1FS18 Standby Power Supply

can i convert this to use it as a UPS ?

( uninteruptable power supply )

i want to give power backup to a small computer and CCTV cameras

it is a twin unit rated at 1000 VA each ( 2000 VA total ) , which is twice as big as most UPS's for home use

It has a RJ 12 plug on the front which i assume is either a jumper connector or a controller connection , but i cannot find an operators manual for it anywhere on the net.

When powered on the LED lights indicate correct function , and the batteries are fully charged but when i flick off the mains power the backup output power doesnt kick in , i assume the RJ 12 plug needs to be connected to something to allow it to changeover to standby power ?

anyone played with these before ?
