Do you have to rent a comcast digital receiver

Comcast xfinity says I must rent a Digital Receiver by 1-4-11 for enhanced digital service. Can I buy one instead?

Well it is a cheaper alternative, you rent to save money but if you can afford to buy a new one then why not.
