I just bought a new monitor and a new video card (Rage Pro 8MB PCI Card) that
I installed into an empty PCI slot. I want to be able to use two monitors on
my computer. The new monitor, however, is blank. The solution that I have
come across is to go to the Settings tab in Display in control panel, and
select the "secondary monitor" and select "extend desktop" or something like
that. However, I do not see either of these options anywhere. Please help!

thanks

When you fire up your computer and everythings done loading, position your
mouse anywhere on your desktop screen and right click, select properties and
you will see the settings tab.

After the rage pro is installed, did you ensure that the proper drivers were
installed and that device manager sees the new video adapter?

Yes, the drivers were installed and device manager sees the new video card
and says it's working properly and enabled.
However, in device manager, under monitors, there is only one monitor
listed. Plug and Play.
help?
thanks

Most monitor come with a CD with inf and icm files.
you need to update those from within device manager/monitor
/properties/driver
then XP will display the correct name of your monitor and know its correct
configuration for refresh rate and resolution.

It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about
the problem
