Windows 7 Professional and IE9 Compatibility

Hello,
I am using Windows 7 Professional - Since I went to ie 9 when I switch from one internet site to another I get consistently "ie unable to open this tab" and then a few seconds later I can access it. I tried to go back to IE8 but its no longer on the computer. What can I do to fix?
