I had a chance to attend Games Day in Paris along with several thousand
French Teens.
I had 3 interesting discussions with Games Workshop Staff Members from
the UK - all designers and model makers.
They all indicated that some of the races that had not had recent model
releases would see new items this year (Orks, Tau, Necrons, etc). They
were all chuckling about a new Necron model that would be out before the
fall.
Two of the people were GW and the Third was FW.
I guess being a native English speaker who was interested in what they
were doing in a place where most of the fans did not want to speak
english was an advantage - I got lots of face time with the UK staff.
Also got to see all the new 'Nids that are coming - I do not want to be
across the board from all airborne 'Nid army. I also learned a new
tactic against the 'Nids - leave one model of a unit alive...never try
to kill them all (at least the little guys). Also the new rules that let
you take HQ models and Heavy models as Elites and take 3 to a unit
choice instead of 1 makes for a really scary IG Armor vs 'Nid scenario.
The 1:6 Baneblade was put thru its paces - it takes 2 guys with RC gear
to move it around and make it work - cool stuff.
The funniest battle was the Dreadnoughts vs the Killer Kans - probably
at least 30 of each on the table (though the Kans out numbered the
Dreads 2:1 at least)....The table drew 12 to 14 year old guys who each
had a couple of models - it was pure chaos - but a great way to excite
the younger players.
