I'm looking for 2GB of memory for a new gaming system I am building. I am planning on overclocking (not sure to what degree), so please keep this in mind.

I was thinking of getting <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210" target="_new">this</A>, however if I can get away with something a bit cheaper I would be happy.

Here are the rest of the specs I am thinking of using:
AMD 3700+ (San Diego)
DFI LanParty Ultra-D
BFG 7800GTX OC
Western Dig. 120GB SATA
Antec NeoPower 480W
Haven't decided on a case yet

Please give me some memory reccomendations that will provide some decent overclocking. Additionally, does it matter if I use 4x512mb or 2x1gb?

Starting from scratch, definately go 2*1GB. You would be limited to 333MHz if you go 4*512MB. Personally I'd go with the ram you listed. It's been in my shopping cart a few times but I've resisted the urge so far.

yes, sorry, San Diego. For some reason I was thinking S754.

I wish I realised that before I bought 2 more sticks of 512MB.. I was running at 400mhz before.. what is the reason anyway? And how much difference is there between 400mhz and 333mhz?

I have a Pentium 4 BTW. After some searching it seems it's an Athlon thing. Why is it affecting me then?

No I really do... Is there a way to manually set it to 200mhz or something?

BTW 2 sticks are Kingmax pc3200 @ 3 - 3 - 3 - 8
and 2 sticks are Kingston pc3200 @ 2.5 - 4 - 4 - 8
and when it boots up it says
2048MB pc2700 dual channel interleaved
and CPU-z says its running @ 160mhz, 2.5 - 4 - 4 - 8

I thought I was getting identical RAM to the first but when it arrived it was Kingston instead of Kingmax.. would returning it and getting identical RAM to the original stuff fix the problem?
