Hi folks - have a prob that's bugging the hell out of me and I hope you can help.

I'm a complete networking novice, but I have managed to hook 2 PC's up to a Nokia M1122 ADSL modem/router, both are running Win ME.

They can individually access the net through the modem, no problems @ all. I want to share files between them, using the faster PC the majority of the time. So I've shared the drives of the slower PC through Explorer and I can see them all from my main PC.

The problem arises when I open a window, go through a few sub directories, both Ethernet lights on the Nokia start going crazy at each other. Everything slows down and then the window stops responding. It only seems to happen when I view the files down a number of sub directories.

What's happening here? I haven't changed anything in the modem at all, it just seemed to be plug and play. Obviously it's not as easy as that and somethings "clogging" the system. Any ideas?

Jay

I would do more exhaustive testing. e.g. Try different sub-directories. Does it do the same thing for all? Or is it limited to a specific directory tree. How many levels deep do you have to go before it starts happening? Is this a consistent number, or is it different each time?

Thats how I'd proceed, anyway.

I've got a sneaking suspsicion that I haven't set something right up somewhere. Maybe I should start again?

It happens from both PC's and it's not the same directory. It looks like it jams up with all the data about the same stage.

Any thoughts. Jay
