Printer not working

Hi all, I have a pc with the printer not working, only i'm fairly sure its not the printer, have tried updating drivers and re installing drivers, also tried different printers, nothing works. When I click on 'add printer' it does tell me that the spooler services is not running, so I have re started the service, then the 'add printer' just tells me that there is a fault but does not say what. Also after the drivers have been put on it says that the RPC service is not running, I have tried starting this again too but still does not work. Any ideas?
