The device driver for the 'USB Composite Device' device is preventing the
machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again.
If the problem persist, you may need to upgrade this driver.

The driver is USBCCGP.SYS 5.2.3790.1830 (srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447)
Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft Windows Publisher). Required for the ATI
Remote wonder 2 radio receiver.

There are no power options for this driver. Can I set power options with
regedit?

Is there a way to force standby or to ignore this driver, or to tell the
system to automatically disable it before entering standby. Or perhaps run a
script before and after entering standby - this script will disable and
re-enable the driver.

2K3_SP1
If I disable the driver manually, the system will enter in standby mode, but
I hate doing this every time!

This behavior is almost the same in XP_SP2, where the system will go in
standby mode, but will not the deep sleep mode (full power down with memory
refresh only or whatever it is called), because I still hear the noise of
the fans and harddisks.

Thank You for any support.

George,

The defaut drivers provided with Windows are only bare minimum and you should try and obtaain
updated and latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website. Most of the times, update drivers
solve this sort of problems.

Thank You for the replay, Anando!
I guess that 'Composite device' means that this is just a way to tell the
system that there are more than one devices on the USB port. Therefore it is
something generic. The ATI drivers for Remote Wonder 2 cover the hardware
components except for the 'generic one' -- the composite device, which is
supposed to be supported by the operating system. I will try to ask ATI for
support...

AIW video cards cost a lot of money. The 'XT' models are the most expensive
products. I expected to find something that works, but so far I have only
troubles with the AIW9600XT video card. And at least if the TV was working,
but it does not like my 2k3 server. So far all programs (graphedit, Virtual
dub and others) play TV, and only the 'ATI TV player failed to initialize
the video'!

Misery!!!
