im building a server with a p4 and giga byte GA-8iHXP. the tape drive has a scsi interface so i bought an adaptec scsi card. now, i noticed during previous installs, there is an option to load scsi drivers at the very beginning of the install.... is this just for hard drives or any scsi card? i have a raid card too..... should i just put the raid card in and run the install? or start with one drive for the system partition, then mirror it after the install is complete... and THEN add the raid 5 card and other drives? i guess what im asking is, whats the best order to do things....

I believe it's best to do it right at the very beginning of the Win2K installation. Ya know...press F6 right at the very start...

Here's the order I would do it:

I'd make the RAID 1 mirror from the BIOS prior to installing. Then I'd install the OS (Press F6 for the RAID controller etc.)

Then since the SCSI card is just to serve a tape drive, I'd physically install it after the OS was done. When you boot back up it will recognize it and ask for the drivers.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
