Hi,
I'm trying to get some web conferencing hardware to work. I have an echo
cancellation device and some high end microphones that I've attached to my XP
tablet (current SP and patches) but they are not working properly. The
microphone vendor says that I need to turn off the microphone boost which is
located under the SoundMax Volume Control Options/Advanced Controls.
Unfortunately, the Advanced Controls option is grayed out.
How can I either get into the Advanced Controls or turn off the microphone
boost by some other means?

Talk to the tablet vender and see if they supply drivers that work with
the advanced controls, or turn down the Microphone slider way down.
