I've been reading around and even did a little search on the boards. To get to my question, whats the difference between SATA and SATA II. I am trying to build a new comp, and wondering if SATA drives work in SATA II slots.

Thanks

Yup SATA and SATA II are fully backward compatible, both ways. You just wont have SATA's II benefit if you plug a sata drive in it!

pfffft! These are benefits, even if they are worth less =)

People should stop bashing SATA-II I didnt hear that much bashing when ATA-133 came out vs ata-100!!

Its not a must have but it remains newer technology that MIGHT come handy...I wouldnt spend x-tra buck but I'd take it over SATA-1 if equally priced!

Peepel, peepel, calm down, if the benefit IS worthless then there is NO benefit. What'r yo'll talking about? Read the dictionary or something in that direkshon. It says: Worthless = Worthless.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...
